SRI LANKA WITH CHELSEA - MARCH 2026 August 26, 2025 22:24 2 Comments

I’ll be honest — I don’t know much about Sri Lanka.

I've never been! But what I've heard has me fizzing. And word from Trafalgar is it's one of THE most-loved places to travel right now...

What's the go?

It’s a teardrop-shaped island just off the southern tip of India - lush, tropical, and absolutely packed with history, culture, flavour and beauty. It’s about the size of Tasmania, home to around 22 million people, and has a bit of everything: sacred temples, ancient cities, rainforests, wildlife, beaches, colonial charm, warm oceans, tea plantations (oh, how I love tea) and spice markets (imagine).

And the food?

Let’s just say, I’m packing only floaty dresses without a constrictive waist.

Sri Lankan food is bold, vibrant and full of flavour. Think slow-cooked coconut curries, sambols with lime and chilli, crispy hoppers (like a crepey pancake thing) spiced vegetables, cinnamon-scented dhal, and creamy buffalo curd drizzled with treacle. There’s a deep Ayurvedic influence, loads of fresh fruit, seafood, and glorious spices that have been traded for centuries.

It’s similar to Indian food in some ways, but lighter, tangier, and its own thing. And oh boy, I cannot WAIT to try it all.

Sri Lanka is known for its warmth (the climate and the people). And lately, it seems like everyone I know is either going, just got back, or wanting to go. So, my friend - I reckon we should get amongst it.

Our trip

This isn’t your average holiday. It’s a rich, flavour-soaked, soul-lifting, hilariously fun trip - Chelsea-style. Ten unforgettable days with a bunch of good-stock (fellow Kiwis), and a land that has it all.

We’ll be riding trains through misty hills, sipping Ceylon tea, feasting on fragrant curries, breathing in incense from sacred temples, and safari-ing at sunrise in search of elephants. There’s a beach. Turtles. There’s a cooking class. There’s me. And there’s you (hopefully).

Don’t just dream about it... come with me!

Me & Trafalgar

I’ve been going on trips with Trafalgar for over ten years now. And I keep coming back for more because they’re just… so bloody good. They’re impeccably run, the people involved are always magic, and every trip brings something new and beautiful. My partnership with Trafalgar has become one of the unexpected highlights of my life - and it might just become one of yours, too. Whether you’re flying solo, travelling with your mum, your husband, your best mate - there’s a place for everyone. It’s such a buzz to be part of it. I feel incredibly lucky.

Things to know

  • These Trafalgar trips are the best way to travel.
No stress, no decisions, no standing in queues, no hauling suitcases to and fro. Just show up and be looked after like a queen (or king). Life is busy enough at home without your trip being stressful too! Click here to see what I mean.

  • It’s safe, smooth, and seriously fun.
You don’t have to worry about a thing, everything’s organised. Transport, accommodation, meals, access to incredible experiences, all sorted.

  • You’ll meet the best people.
Every trip I’ve done like this, the group is always a mix of ages, personalities, and backgrounds - and somehow, it just works. Most people make close, lifelong friendships.

  • Our Trafalgar Travel Director is a literal godsend.
This magical human keeps everything humming along behind (and in front of) the scenes, shares their deep local knowledge, handles logistics, and adds an incredible amount of heart and humour to the journey. You'll adore them by the end.

  • This is an “out of the box” experience.
Trafalgar unlocks the kinds of experiences you simply won't find on your own - like cooking with locals, special access to heritage sites, local specialists, and meals with families in their homes. These are always the most memorable parts of the trip.

  • We travel in comfort.
Our private coach has air con, Wi-Fi, and the all-important power outlets for your phone. You’ll be uploading photos and making the folks back home green-eyed every day.

  • I’ll be there!
But there'll be no cooking demos or history lessons from me - I’m coming on holiday as your fellow traveller. I’ll be soaking it all in with you, snapping pics, bringing everyone together in the best, most loving a hilarious way. You might even get a nickname from me - I'm renowned for that.
